The 13th Doctor for the hit Cult TV Series “Doctor Who” was announced yesterday during the Wimbledon men’s final and I was one of the fans who waited to see the announcement and it’s been confirmed that Jodie Whittaker has been named as the 13th Doctor who will make her first appearance during this years Christmas special.
Whittaker is famous for her role in the UK TV Series Broadchurch who is worked along side Former Doctor David Tennant and new Doctor who Writer Chris Chibnall.
Whittaker is the first female actor to play the doctor and this has divided many fans who are not happy that a female has been cast in the role but many have praised the decision and are very excited to see how her story develops next year in her first series.
My reaction with the announcement was complete shock at first but I think it was a very brave decision and it will now open more possibilities moving forward and I’m looking forward to seeing how her character grows and how this change affects the doctor moving forward.
Whittaker took to social media after the announcement and said “I want to tell the fans not to be scared of my gender. This is a really exciting time and Doctor Who represents everything that’s exciting about change.” and I could not agree more and good luck Jodie.
